Personal Development:
The paradox of change
Check out this interesting short video about how life is a paradox. It explores the idea that growth and healing don’t come from avoiding discomfort, but from moving through it, embracing the moments that challenge us, test us, and ultimately shape us. While many people want change, they often resist the habits, truths, and effort required to achieve it, leaving them feeling stuck.
This video is a powerful reminder that pain and strength, struggle and growth, all exist together for a reason, and that’s what makes the journey meaningful. If you’re ready to stop avoiding the hard parts and start making real progress, book a coaching session.
Professional Development:
Dysfunctional Senior Leadership Teams
Dysfunctional senior leadership teams don’t just impact culture, they slow decision-making, create misalignment, and ultimately hold businesses back. Often, the root of the issue lies in unseen behaviours, blind spots, and conflicting leadership styles.
Tools like the Hogan Assessment and Hogan Team Report provide a powerful baseline, helping teams uncover these dynamics, identify challenges, and highlight clear opportunities for growth and development. With the right insight, leadership teams can move from friction to alignment and perform at their best.

Diversity:
State of UK Men Report
Emerging insights from the State of UK Men 2025 report highlight a growing and often overlooked dimension of diversity: the complex and shifting experiences of men. Themes of loneliness, disconnection, and a perceived lack of societal support are prominent, with many men feeling unseen, uncertain about their role, and influenced by rigid expectations around masculinity.
The report also points to rising distrust in institutions and the impact of online spaces shaping identity and beliefs. For organisations serious about diversity, equity, and inclusion, these findings underscore the importance of understanding gender in a more nuanced, human way, recognising both privilege and pressure. A decade of power posing: where do we stand?
A decade after “power posing” first captured global attention, a retrospective article published in The Psychologist explores how the concept has evolved from bold early claims to a more nuanced scientific understanding. Originally hailed as a simple way to boost confidence, reduce stress hormones and influence behaviour, the idea quickly gained mainstream traction - but later became entangled in psychology’s wider replication crisis when follow-up studies failed to consistently support those biological and behavioural effects.
More recent large-scale reviews suggest that while power posing may not dramatically change hormones or risk-taking, it can still meaningfully influence how powerful people feel - particularly by avoiding closed, contractive postures rather than forcing expansive ones. The key takeaway: posture does play a role in mindset, but the effects are more subtle and context-dependent than first thought.

Side talk: Half of men feel more comfortable having difficult conversations shoulder-to-shoulder
New research highlighted in a March 2025 article by Greene King in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support reveals that how men communicate can be just as important as what they say. The study found that 52% of men feel more comfortable having difficult conversations side-by-side – such as during a walk or over a drink – rather than face-to-face, yet only 34% regularly open up to friends or family, and 11% don’t feel comfortable seeking support at all.
These findings land at a time when conversations around masculinity are increasingly in the spotlight, not least through the recent Louis Theroux: The Manosphere. The documentary explores how some online spaces are reshaping modern ideas of masculinity, often reinforcing patriarchal norms that discourage emotional openness and frame vulnerability as weakness. Against this backdrop, it’s perhaps unsurprising that many men still struggle to express themselves, particularly in more traditional, face-to-face settings.
The research also points to a generational divide, with younger men struggling most to talk openly – a tension that mirrors the conflicting messages they receive about what it means to “be a man” today. Alongside the study, a campaign film and nationwide pub initiative aim to create safer, more natural environments for these conversations, particularly for men facing serious health challenges like cancer. The key takeaway: creating informal, shared spaces can help break down barriers, challenge outdated norms, and encourage more honest, human dialogue.

Personal Development: Artificial fuel for the body
Check out this thought-provoking short clip on Instagram from the On The Mend podcast.
In his podcast, Matt Willis hosts thoughtful conversations about healing, growth and moving forward. In this episode, he’s joined by neuroscientist TJ Power to explore how modern coping mechanisms - from alcohol and scrolling to fast food and quick dopamine hits - can pull us away from genuine connection and wellbeing, and why that matters for recovery and presence.
It’s an honest, insightful discussion about addiction, resilience and what truly fuels a meaningful life.

Professional Development: The Executive Coaching Mistake Too Many Leaders Make
Executive coaching is booming - but there’s a costly flaw hiding in plain sight: insight doesn’t automatically lead to behaviour change. A new Leadership IQ study found most leaders have 3-4 blind spots their teams clearly see - and even when told directly, 84% don’t change.
The issue isn’t a lack of feedback; it’s a lack of execution. Research shows coaching often improves self-awareness and resilience, yet fails to translate into measurable organisational results because insight stops short of practical implementation.
Real change happens when awareness is converted into clear behaviours, decision rules, accountability and follow-through - not just reflection. If you care about leadership that actually shifts outcomes (not just mindsets), this article is a must-read.

Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice: Orwell 2+2=5
Orwell: 2+2=5 is a striking new documentary from Raoul Peck that re-examines George Orwell’s warnings about truth, power and propaganda in the context of today’s world.
Drawing on 1984 and his essays, the film highlights how manipulated language, surveillance and distorted narratives shape public life - issues that sit at the heart of modern conversations around diversity, inclusion and social justice.
When truth is controlled, marginalised voices are often the first to be silenced. More relevant than ever, this film challenges us to stay alert and engaged.
